The increasing rate of crime in the Hyderabad and Cyberabad of Andhra Pradesh has reached a new height with the educated people being fooled. In the last few weeks there is a serious threat of “Attention Diverters” who fool the people and perform the thefts.
Diverted attention includes a range of activities where the drivers’ attention is directed away from the primary task of driving towards events, objects or people, inside- or outside-of-the-vehicle. Crime cases hit a new high with diverse attention by unidentified youths
On Tuesday two youth diverted the mind of a mother and son and fled with the Rs 4 lakh near Attapur junction in Rajendranagar.
According to the reports the theft occurred when Mr.Chandra Charan Goud, 25 and his mother, Ms Siroman 55, were driving in their car Maruti Alto to Rajendranagar at 11 am after withdrawing Rs 4lakh from the Indian Bank of Nanal Nagar.
When they reached the Modern Restaurant area, two unidentified youth came alongside in their bikes and cautioned that oil is leaking from the car. Listening to this, the mother and son got down from the car to check, the bikers snatched the cash bag and fled.
Rajendra Nagar police has registered a case against the two youth and has alerted all surrounding police stations about attention diversion cases.
Presumably the mother and son were fooled because “The youth appeared educated and spoke in fluent English and that was why the mother and son were fooled,” said inspector, Mr Rambhoopal Rao.
It is the fourth case of attention diversion thefts in twin cities. On Oct 12, a gang robbed Rs 5 lakh from a person at Chaianyapuri after telling him that he had dropped some notes. When the man looked down to see, few young persons flee with his cash.
Same was with a pharma company staffer who was fooled the same way at Secundrabad Clock Tower on Oct 7.
In another similar case on the same day, a gang snatched Rs 7.64 lakh from an employee of private firm at busy Khairtabad after throwing the liquid on his shirt during daytime.. The man could not understand what really happened. In few seconds he lost lakhs of rupees.
Such gangs pre-plan and target the customers of banks. In earlier cases they took away gold jewellery and huge sums from customers in the same manner. The robbers grabbed the bag and run before you and you may not realize that they were offenders. So be cautioned of your amount on way after withdrawals.
It is our hard earned money so we need to be vigilant for it. And one should be very careful in handling the cash and jewellary after withdrawals from banks. They should straight away go home or at any place where the amount has to be paid. If they take the amount and wander for other works the attention divert ants get an opportunity to rob your amount. Unless people get cautioned and wary of their cash such thefts will be on rise.
